GIRL’S DAY OUT

girls day outTo honor our nation’s great patriarchal leaders, Mandie and I left the men at home and went skiing. See spectacular photos and videos of our girls day out!

30 IS THE NEW 20

To mark my entry into a new decade, I knitted a giant lime! Inspired by Trisha Adams (nee Hunte), I have knitted an array of fruits and other food items.

I also designed a really nice-looking ski hat, which I hope SWIX will use their next line of nordic hats. I love everything SWIX makes – hats, gloves, ski wax, shot glasses, snow thermometers, etc – and I’ve always wanted to design hats for them. I took a small SWIX patch from a hat that shrunk in the dryer, and affixed it on a scaled-down “concept hat” (modeled by Chairman Meow; human hats will not include ear holes, but they would be available upon request).

PSYCHOCROSS ART O’CONNOR

art oconnorA soggy New England blizzard cannot stop Psychocross Art O’Connor, who braved white-out conditions to take 2nd place at the Cyclocross National Championships in Providence, Rhode Island. I was so thrilled to see him do so well – I didn’t even mind standing in the blizzard for hours and getting severe hypothermia. Congratulations Art!

CHAIRMAN MEOW ON TOP OF THE WORLD!

chairman meow superstar

Chairman Meow (a.k.a. Little Man) has achieved international stardom. With message boards all over the world linking to his birthday cat picture, it is by far the most popular item on my entire website – with over 40,000 requests to date. Among the pages that link to him: a Japanese anime page, a Craigslist forum, a Jehovah’s Witness chat room, and HUNDREDS of pages on Myspace.com. Hopefully his fame will generate some much-needed cash flow to offset his veterinary expenses (his latest bill was $350). Or the $2400 condominium assessment that I have to pay by March 2006 so our roof can be repaired.

WHAT I DID THIS SUMMER

cycloneAugust 20 – escape to New York City

Alex and I made a last-minute trip to New York City for the premiere of “William Eggleston in the Real World” at the Film Forum. Among the many highlights of our trip: hanging out with celebrities at the afterparty, eating lots of hot dogs, and riding the terrifying Cyclone in Coney Island.

July 20 – covert dirt removal

Last May, I amassed this huge pile of dirt in my backyard while converting my ghetto patio into a ghetto zen garden. One year later, I finally got rid of it. I slowly reduced this pile by filling small buckets and depositing the dirt in various undisclosed locations throughout the city (mostly in dirt-deficient areas). In July, after countless nights of covert dirt removal, I emptied out my last bucket and completed this section of the patio.

Alexander Scott - Triax SculptureJune 2005 – gluttony

My friends and I became regulars at wine tasting events (with tons of delicious free food) that took place in restaurants all over Boston. Near the end of June, Alexander Scott displayed his recent works – a series of sculptures – at the Boston Uncorked Summer Solstice, another wine tasting event that took place on the rooftop of the Ritz Carlton Towers.
