DEVIL'S CASTLE

In the middle of July 1998, I hiked up Devil's Castle in Alta with Toby Schroder, Patrick Nelson, and Pete. Patrick was on Alpine skis, Pete and Toby on snowboards, and I on telemark. This day was memorable for several reasons: it was the latest (July 15th) I had ever skied, it was when I met our good friend Toby, and I got in one more day of skiing before my accident - after which I couldn't ski for two whole years.

Above all, it was a great day of skiing.

Concentrating on NOT falling - it sucks when skiing in shorts.

Here I am skiing toward Cecret Lake. We later jumped right in

While I was recuperating from my accident, I drew a portrait of Devil's Castle. It's one of my favorite drawings, and gave me more determination than ever to ski again.
